SUPPLY LIST FOR BAND

EVERYONE will need:

Instrument: in good working condition, required for class daily

Pencil: required for class daily

Lyre & flip folder: required for marching/pep band

Music: Required for class daily. Each band member is provided with a music folder and individual copies of all music.

Folding music stand:  strongly recommended for home practice

Metronome: strongly recommended for home practice

Tuner: strongly recommended for home practice

Method Books: Each band member needs his/her own copy of Foundations for Superior Performance by Williams and King, published by Kjos. Jazz students are encouraged to own Easy Jazz Conception and Intermediate Jazz Conception by Jim Snidero. Both are available at local music stores.

Reeds: Clarinet and saxophone players need to have at least 4 reeds in good playing condition at all times. Remove reed from the mouthpiece after each use and keep them in a reed protector. Oboe and bassoon players should have at least 2 reeds in good playing condition at all times. Keep them in a reed case.

Brass: Trumpet, trombone, euphonium, horn and tuba players need to have their own valve oil/slide cream and tuning slide grease.

Percussion: Each percussionist must provide his/her own snare drum sticks (concert & marching), hard plastic mallets (bells/xylo), yarn mallets (marimba/vibes), timpani mallets and a chromatic pitch pipe. Some mallets (ie: bass drum) will be provided, but percussionists need to build their own collection of sticks and mallets and use a stick bag.
