Meeting Minutes – April 15, 2008

Band Director Update

32 students signed up for Jazz Band for next year. There will probably be two sections. Todd Mahaffey will not be teaching Jazz Band 2 due to Chinook commitments.
12 students have signed up for Percussion ensemble so there probably will be a percussion class for next year.
Both jazz bands played well at Jazz Northwest in Spokane.
Band festivals went well with Concert Band garnering all "1" scores which is excellent and best of all bands that attended.
Two students will be competing at All-State this month: Adam Guzek & Melissa Winstalnley. Mr. Caruso will be attending.
Next big push is for the Bellevue Jazz Festival.

Bell Jazz Festival

DECA will operate the concession stand between 11-1:30 on Friday.
Photographer has been scheduled.
Volunteers have been assigned.
Plaques & trophies have been ordered.
Sponsorships are still in the works.
Judges are scheduled to stay at the Marriott; Iris Winstanley to provide transporation to and from the airport and to and from the hotel.
Dinner for judges will be served both nights in the staff lounge.
The last band each days plays at 6PM.
Program to be submitted to printer next week.
Sound/Recording is still in question. Vince Caruso to follow up with Carlson Audio.
Amy Florence has done an excellent job with publicity.
Students will be signing up for volunteer spots at the jazz festival next Monday and Tuesday.
Parking is a critical issue on Friday. Nora Hightower to coordinate with the office to try to reserve parking spots.
