Meeting Minutes – Feb. 12, 2008

Band Director Update

Combined rehearsal for CWU Wind Festival will be held on Feb. 28 -- right after the mid-winter break.
All State festival this weekend. Adam Guzek, Melissa Winstanley, Taylor Martin, Chris Coffman and Will Sullivan will be there representing BHS.
The State Music Educator's conference will be held concurrently with the All-State festival.
February 29th is the CWU wind festival in Ellensburg. It will be the nicest concert venue the students will experience this year.
The Concert Band league festival will be held at Bellevue Christian on March 7.
March 9 -- the Jazz band will precede the Jazz Police and perform 6-7 pieces at Tula's jazz club in Seattle.
March 14-16 the jazz bands will travel to Spokane for the Mead HS festival.
March 19 is the Spring concert with Chinook. The percussion ensemble will debut as a solo group at this concert and they are excited.
Registration for both Chinook and BHS are now underway. Band kids need to sign up now. For jazz band, they also must sign up now.
If registration warrants, there will be a Jazz Band II but Todd Mahaffey will probably not teach it due to his over-full schedule at Chinook.
Honors band now consists of 7 or 8 students.
New Smart Board in the band room is great.
March 7th at the concert a pitch will be made for Bellevue Jazz Festival.
Miscellaneous expense occurred: Director's podium repair.

Bell Jazz Festival

Sheilah Varon to be volunteer coordinator.
High School day already filled.
Middle School day -- only 4 spots left.
Only 2 groups in the junior high division.
Discussed purchasing greeting signs.
Amy Florence is our PR person.
Jayme Belle to be the t-shirt coordinator.
Hotel for judges has been booked.
CWU band is the guest performance, directed by Chris Bruya.
Downtown Bellevue Association may be a sponsor.
Sponsorship due March 28th.
