Director’s Update - Vince Caruso
- PTSA Grant for Harmony Director
- PTSA awarded a grant for Harmony Director.
- Carol Lawrence to write a Thank You Note; Leslie Bigos to take photographs.
- Instrument Purchases
- The Booster board voted that Mr. Caruso should order the instruments on his "wish list" since the wreath fund raiser has been so successful.
- Discussed Mr. Caruso having the students show the new instruments at the next concert as a Thanks for the support.
- Football Play-offs
- The Band will not be playing at the next football game due to the Northshore Jazz Festival. If the football team progresses, the band will not play Thanksgiving weekend.
- Basketball Plans
- Three bands have been formed and each student will be only required to attend basketball games on two occasions.
- All-State
- Two students have been selected for All-State -- Brian Lawrence & Nolan Tsang. Discussed ASB funding of these students.
- Vince is working to confirm what ASB amount the ASB will subsidize the students. Vince to communicate with Tsang and Lawrence families about subsidy.
- Fees need to be paid by Dec. 10
- PLU Honor Band
- The following students will be attending PLU Honor Band: Nikki Greene tuba, Hannah Johnson bassoon, Sarah Hillier bassoon, Adam Winstanley bass clarinet.
- PLU Honor Band is January 8 & 9, 2010.
- Jazz Club - Is ongoing
- Winter Concert - Dec 16
- Jazz Band - may travel to No. Colorado University for Jazz festival.
- Currently trying to find ways to reduce costs of 1.) ground transportation while in Colorado 2.) checked luggage fees.
- Hotel rooms reserved, airfare reserved.
- Informational email to be sent to jazz band parents early next week.
Fundraising - Wreath Sale Recap - Brenda Tsang

- Delivery - Nov 20th
- Volunteers lined up for delivery.
- We need to recruit a fundraising chair this year.
- The fundraiser earned approximately $4,361 profit this year including donations.
- The generosity of Erin Fleck was greatly appreciated by the Board.
- The Board voted to streamline the fundraiser for next year and only sell wreaths which makes the process simpler for the students and volunteers.
- The Board agreed that the wreath delivery should take place before Thanksgiving break.
- The Board agreed that we would like to partner with Erin Fleck next year on the fundraiser.
Treasurer Report - Iris Winstanley
- Iris moved the checking/saving accounts to 1st Mutual. 1st Mutual supports various community groups, has no fees, more interest and better service than current bank.
- New checks have been ordered and Leslie Bigos added as a signer.
- Audit controls - Kirsti Sheeran to audit last year's books.
Bell Jazz - Kirsti Sheeran
- Discussed sponsorship packets for winter concert, Kirsti to check with Peggie.
- Kirsti to confirm committee chair assignments and volunteer needs.
- Kirsti to meet with Mr. Caruso regarding the planning.
- Kirsti to plan a Bell Jazz planning kick-off meeting.
Review Action Items & Next Meeting Date
Next Meeting scheduled for December 8th @ 7:00PM needs to be changed due to conflict with Chinook concert. Dates floated are Dec. 1, Dec 9 and Dec 14.
