Director's Report - Vince Caruso
- Vince presented the instrument "wish list" of instruments he and equipment he would like to order based upon a successful fundraiser. Vince got two bids for these instruments and Kennelly Keys, a local music store, provided a very competitive bid with significantly lower prices. The trombones are the highest priority on this list and the Harmony Director will be a very useful teaching tool for Vince. These include:
-
- 4 Yamaha YCL-250 Clarinets @ $449 = $1796 + tax
- 3 Yamaha YSL-445G Trombones $999 = $2997 + tax
- 1 Ibanez AG95D "Jazz" Guitar (w/hard case) @ $499 = $499 + tax
- 1 Roland JC120 Guitar Amp @ $895 = $895 + tax
- 1 Yamaha "Harmony Director" @ $1113
- 3 groups for Basketball Games - Vince has floated the idea to the band students of dividing them up into 3 equal groups for basketball games (Blue, gold and white). The advantage of this would be that each student would only have to play on two evenings instead of 3 or 4. It would also provide a balanced instrumentation for the games.
- Senior band members recognition at Senior football night - the board agreed that senior band students do not need recognition at the final football game as we recognize our seniors at the "Awards" concert.
- Chinook jazz night in Chinook cafeteria - The Bellevue High PAC is not available for the Jazz Night but Todd Mahaffey agreed that the Chinook Cafeteria would be an appropriate venue for the Jazz Night in the Spring. It will be more comfortable temperature-wise and will fit the size of audience that we expect.
- All-State/All NW Auditions - 8 students participated in auditions with 11 audition tapes made for both all-state band and all-state jazz band.. The students will know if they were selected right before winter break.
- PLU Honor Band - Vince Caruso nominated 6 or 7 students for this band which will be held January 8 & 9.
- Jazz Club will begin October 29th on Thursdays between 2:45 - 3:45. Students that did not make the Jazz 1 band are invited to participate in the club as well as others.
