George Family

Edd George is the Director of Bands at Bellevue High School where he leads the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble, Marching/Pep Band, and Jazz Ensemble 1. He also teaches 5th grade band at Enatai Elementary School. He has been teaching in the Bellevue School District since 2006. The first four years in the district were spent at Newport High School and Tyee Middle School. Prior to 2006, Mr. George taught in the Bellingham School District at
Squalicum High School and at Kulshan Middle School. He also taught Whatcom Community College. During his seven years teaching at Squalicum, the bands grew in size and in quality. Their jazz band performed with numerous guest artists, such as Floyd Standifer, Marc Seales, Buddy Catlett, Jonathan Pugh and Dave Keim, and placed at several competitive jazz festivals. They were also featured on the 2006 KPLU School of Jazz CD. The concert bands grew and received superior ratings at festivals and the marching band was a crowd favorite at home football games. Mr. George also started a Percussion Ensemble while at Squalicum.  

Mr. George graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 1999 and a Master of Conducting from Southern Oregon University in 2005. In November of 2008 he became aNational Board Certified Teacher. In addition to teaching band, Mr. George is one of the directors for Sound Wave, the band for the Seattle. s Major League Soccer team, the Sounders FC.  He does many of the arrangements for the band, as well as running rehearsals, and directing at home matches.

Outside of his musical endeavors, Mr. George spends time with his wife Allison, daughter McKenna, son Aidric, and four cats.  In his limited spare time, Mr. George enjoys playing with his kids, swimming, wakeboarding, and playing video games on the Wii.
